How to fill in your brackets!!!

That's right....I can show you how to fill in your brackets before they even come out. As I type this its 1:40pm on Wednesday afternoon. No, theres no secret formula or I dont have inside knowledge of games being fixed...sorry its nothing cool like that. The NCAA has people that watch these games from the beginning of the season to the conference championships. That means they know who's good and who's not. Then they have a selection committee to come in and decide what team plays who and where by giving all 64 (65 if you wanna count the "play-in game") a seed in the tourney. So are you ready for the big secret???? Here it is.........Just take the favorites! Yes I know there's always a 12 seed that gives a 5 seed a run for its money or even beats them but, there's no need to say that I knew that Cornell had a great chance to beat Michigan State. You didnt really think that and you've never seen Cornell play and your not gonna impress anyone if you luck out and were right. The only time I may accept an underdog beating a favorite is a 9 seed beating a 8 seed. Everything else pretty much is there for you to take.

If you have any questions or comments please leave me a message and I can write you back and hopefully answer anything questions you may have.

Jay's Sports Corner welcomes.....Boston, Mass.!!!!!

I was eating a bowl of peanut butter ice cream (yeah its still winter here but I love my ice cream) when I got a text message from the beautiful and talented Stacey! FYI: None of this is possible without her so she's my hero!!! Anyways, she asked me if I was ready to be on two stations and I sent her back the most powerful text ever created and said....HUH??????? She told me what she's been working on and how she and her new boss wanted to bring Jay's Sports Corner with. Of course, I got giddy like a school girl because this is want I've wanted to do my enitre life. So, let me once again thank Stacey for everything she's done for me. THANK YOU STACEY!!!!

All major league teams are in full spring training mode. Some are currently playing their first spring training games of the year as I type this. I'm a huge baseball fan and for our new friends in Boston just so we get things clear...Yes I live in New York....NO I'm not a yankees fan.....Yes I am a mets fan tho. OH Before I can forget...Shout out to Billy Buckner!!! Thanks buddy!

Ok, in my last posting I talked about how A-Rod admitted talking steriods. Well, it looks like the league is gonna try to suspend him and if they do it will be a firestorm if they do. Because if you do something that wasnt illegal at the time and when it becomes illegal and it comes out how can you be found guilty?

What I'm more interested in is how is the whole A-Rod story going to effect the yankees? Well, according to the New York media Joe Giradi took the guys out for some billards. Thats right....he's turning to pool to make the team feel more like a family and bond. Well, either one of two things is gonna happen they win a bunch of games and he's a genius or they come right out of the gate and stink it up and then the media well try to run this guy outta town. Just have to wait and see.

Again, if anyone has a special topic they want me to discuss or what me to give an opinion on a certain sports topic just comment back and I'll be happy to give my opinions.

Alex Rodriguez admits to taking steriods!

Just this past weekend a reporter for Sports Illustrated found a report saying A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez) was taking taking steriods. Now, before I go into my little rant here I have to say that for those of who dont understand what I mean by "steriods" I mean he took Testerone and something called Methialone. I'm sure I didnt spell those correctly. I heard this from a reporter on ESPN and he said that when you take the two of them combined they rebuild your muscles quicker (when you workout and lift weights your muscles actually break apart and you need a certain amount of time to recover usually, a day or two after) and the other gives you a "not so steriod look" again this according to TJ Quinn of ESPN. Because if you look at his body size over the last 10+ years he hasnt gotten bigger not to the point of players like Barry Bonds or even Mark McGwire. A-Rod's numbers havent had a sharp spike like Barry Bonds. A-Rod's always been a .300 hitter and 40-50 homeruns a season. He was arguable the best player of his generation. Now, before we all say "major league baseball should throw him out" and all that stuff there was no drug policy or a punishment in place when A-Rod was busted so, nothing will happen.

The trend seems to be when players who get busted and have proof agaisnt them that they have taken performance enhancing drugs seem to admit and move on. Fans forgive them and give them credit for owning thier mistake and being a man about it. Unlike some other players......Barry Bonds.....Roger Clemens.

Alex has a tough time dealing with the media anyways ya know playing in new york and choking every october (yeah I know my mets choke every september) as a matter of fact. My co-worker Pat...SUP P-P-P-P-PAT!!!! told me that David Letterman had a top ten for A-Rod and #3 was: They should make a steriod to not choke in October. HAHA!!!

I've found the interview its a 3-part interview but you can watch the whole interview and please leave feedback for me and tell me what your thinking!

Super Bowl XLIII

After the first period like I said in Jay's Sports Corner I thought my friend and I would of had more fun playing full contact basketball on a inch of ice in his driveway but, the sports fans we are we decided to stick it out and lucky us we got treated to a good game. I picked the final: Pitt 20 - Arizona 14. Boy, was I grinning in the 4th quarter when the score was in fact 20-14 Pitt. I was thinking to myself how much trash am I gonna talk..to my friends, co-workers, etc. Then my dream came to an end when Big Ben was sacked in the endzone for a safety (and when I mean saftey I mean holding in the endzone which is a safety). Oh well, at least I picked the winner....or did I? I've recently seen some photos according to SNY that Santonio Holmes may in fact have NOT had both feet down (I'm looking on the web to see if I can find the picutre) The only problem is that it shows the feet and not were the ball is. I'm not trying to be the rumor starter here...thanks to Marv for that....but, if that pic is a pic him having the ball and not having both feet in well, then I can understand how Cardinal fan is because, BRETT HALL'S FOOT IS STILL IN THE CREASE!!!! I'm a Buffalo fan so we always get the short end of the stick.

Ok for the game. Arizona....you killed yourself in the game! How many penalties did you have? How many of those were personnal fouls? The steelers got in your head and you let your emotions get the better of you! That has to fall on Ken Wisenhunt Cardinals head coach. Dont you tell your players that thats what they're gonna do? I coach a rec soccer team and we have some teams in our league that like to get a bit chippy but, I tell them to just play your game and the ref will make the right calls. I'm just a nobody who coaches U-12 kids and I know that. How the hell doesnt Wisenhunt not tell his players, and if he did then they players deserved everything they got.
Pittsburgh....I know Holmes "caught" the winning TD but, he didnt deserve the Super Bowl MVP. Ben Roethlisberger totally deserved it. How many times did they cardinals blitz or the steelers line break down and made Big Ben run for his life. Not only was he running for his life but he turned nothing into something.

What was your favorite super bowl ad? I loved the careerbuilder and the dortitos commercials. My all-time favorite was probably MacGruber. I love Saturday Night Live and MacGruber is like MacGuyver and he fails all the time. So, I went to youtube and hulu and I guess there was two other commercials of his. I may have missed the other two because of our halftime activites (Like I said full contact basketball on an inch of ice)
So I decided to but all 3 on there as a tribute to Pepsuber...ENJOY!!!

Pittsburgh Steelers V. Arizona Cardinals

I dare anyone to tell me that they had Arizona going to the super bowl because I know I didnt! Well, when I first saw this matchup I was thinking this good be a great game but, I then remembered that its been a while since we've had a blow out in the super bowl (thankfully). I hope its not going to be another one of those but, with Arizona not having very many players that have been in the super bowl (only 5 players have played in the big game) compared to the Steelers who have a bunch more. Then again, I said they were done after they beat Atlanta in the playoffs......maybe they'll make me eat some crow again? The key with this Arizona team is gonna be there defense. I mean I never saw this team play as well as they have in the postseason. When they played my beloved Buffalo Bills the defense with a blitzing machine. Then they took out our quaterback and then it was game over from that point on. Speaking of my Bills I always enjoy the week leading up to the super bowl because I get to see old super bowls and watch Scott Norwood just missing the game winning super bowl and hearing how foolish Thurman Thomas is by losing his helmet before the game. The only thing good super bowl moment that us Bills fans have is Don Beebe striping the ball away from Leon Lett as he tried to hot dog it into the endzone in super bowl XXVII.

So here's my pick:

Pittsburgh 20 - Arizona 14

Arizona is gonna give it a great effort but when it comes down to it you cant beat experience and the steelers have tons of it. I'm rooting for Arizona but just dont know if they are gonna be able to get it done.

Please leave comments and tell me your picks!

P.S. The commercials should be pretty good this year!

Championship Edition

Here we are! The Final Four of the National Football League. In the AFC we got the battle of the top 2 defenses, Baltimore and Pittsburgh and over in the NFC we have what I call "Bird Bowl I" Philly and Arizona. Let me begin by saying that I went 2-2 during the playoff weekend and I was very nervous if I was gonna go 0-4. Both of Saturday's games I lost but, "came back" with an 2-0 Sunday so.....yeah for me??? That bring's me to a record of 5-3 this postseason so all and all thats not too bad I guess.

OK, now let's get into why you clicked on my blog. Who's gonna win? Well, I think I'm taking Pittsburgh in the AFC and here's why. Baltimore has 4 starters on defense that are banged up and are listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Does that mean that Pittsburgh is gonna score all day on them....yeah it will. The 4 starters that I mention are more than likely to play then not doesnt mean that they will be at 100%. When your not feeling good and you dont feel like going to work but you do anyway and why? Because, you take pride in your work and you would rather win the account before Henderson down the hall steals it and wins salesman of the year right? Of course! Plus, I also like at which quaterback would I rather have? Big Ben or Joe Flacco? In this game I'm going with Big Ben....he's been here before he knows how to win and Flacco just has to NOT screw it up!

So.....in the AFC Jay's picking - Pittsburgh

In the NFC its the "Bird Bowl I" I'm just gonna come out and say it...even though I'm rooting the opposite way. Philly will win. The Eagles remind me of the New York "Football" Giants of last year. They snucked thier way into the playoffs and had to face 3 road games to get to the super bowl. This is the Eagles 3rd playoff road game. McNabb is playing like a man on a mission and wont be stopped, Philly's defense is channeling Mike Ditka's '85 Chicago Bears and even though Brian Westbrook is hurt he doesnt want to get off the field. Arizona is a very nice story and its about time they've gotten as far as they have. Larry Fitzgerald is playing the best football of his career and could put up monster numbers again agaisnt philly's defense but, I dont think Arizona will be able to run the ball effectively agaisnt philly's front four.

I'm rooting for Arizona but I'm picking Philly!

Jay's pick for Super Bowl 43......Pittsburgh vs. Philly (should be a good superbowl)

Please let me your comments!!!

Wildcard Weekend

Hey everyone! Sorry for not updating the blog sooner. My job has been a real pain in the butt lately and havent had time to sit down and type a bit. So, happy 2009 to everyone! I'm sure its gonna be a great year for sports (at least I hope so). Last weekend we had our first matchups to determine who's gonna be playing in this years superbowl. Although I didnt post it on here I went 3-1 this weekend. (Yeah for me I win NOTHING!!!) If Indy would of stopped 5'6" Darren Sproles I would of went a perfect 4-0. Which is a rare......very rare! Anyways, here's my picks for this weekends matchups. Before I make them tho. I would like to say I may change them later in the week so please check back if you wanna see how I did.

Arizona vs. Carolina - Carolina

Baltimore vs. Tennessee - Tennessee (but not by much)

San Diego vs. Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh

Philly vs. New York Giants - Philly

Again, I might change my picks so please check back. I'll have these locked in by friday afternoon.
