Ok, so if you heard Jay's Sports Corner this week you heard me along with a "co-host" of sorts. That was Steve a friend of mine and he just graduated from college this year with a bachlor's in Sports Management. So, the good friend I am I thought I'd put him on air and see if he liked it and more importantly, to see if you the listeners liked it. So, send me some feedback.
So, if you did hear it I said I was gonna talk about a bunch of things. For example...Here's a little message I'd like to send to ESPN: PLEASE GET OFF OF BRETT FARVE! He's gonna come back and play for the Vikings. It's quite obvious that he will other why's he wouldnt go on TV and refer to the Vikings as "we" or even go on TV. Farve is enjoying all the attention and why shouldnt he. Farve has an ego...as much as some of us hardcore Farve fans feel about him but, its true. Why not just come out and say. Yes I wanna play for the Vikings or no I enjoy being with my family and I want to stay retired. It's a soap opera that I want to just end! Your thoughts???
Next, Gotta pat myself on the back...sort of. I said the Pens would win the cup....they did. The only problem was they did it in 7 games when I said it would only take 6 games BUT, then I said the Lakers would win their 15th NBA title and it would take 7 games. It actually took them 5 games. In a series where they were clearing the better team and to be surprised it could of been a total domnation from LA if they had showed up and played in game 3. So, I picked both winners in the there respected sports. I just got off the phone with Hollywood and they wanna do a movie on my now like that Brandon Lang guy. They wanna call it: "Better Lucky then Good" Gilbert Godfrey will be playing my role!
ESPN has been asking the question who is the better coach: Red Auerbach or Phil Jackson and also who's the better NBA franchise: Boston Celtics or LA Lakers. Now, I'm not gonna pretend that this debate really matters becuase they are both (coaches and franchises) are the tops but if we wanna have this arguement we can. Celtics have if I have this right 17 titles while the Lakers only have 15 (I say "only" like its a terrible thing) but here's the thing about titles back in the old days. How many teams were there? 8, 10, 16? It's kinda the same arguement when I have to hear about how many titles the yankees have won. 26 titles (not world championships) is impressive but there werent no where near the amount of teams in the league then as there is now. So, I kinda dont hold past titles as that important. Your thoughts?
As far as coaching goes I have to give the edge to Phil and not because he's won 1 more title then Red has but, because of the age I've watched basketball. I've seen Phil coach the greatest player in NBA history in Michael Jordan and one of the most domanate players in the game during his prime in Shaq also with the best pure scorer in the game in Kobe Bryant. Now, I know what your thinking. It's real hard to win when you have those players on your team. Your right...it isnt that hard but, when the Lakers won their last title (before this one) after they won they crashed...and hard. Shaq left and the team went straight down. They werent making playoffs and Kobe couldnt get his guys to play around him. Then, something happened. They started playing like a team, made a few roster moves, and bought into the Phil Jackson triangle offense system and next thing you know they were one game away from winning the title last year along with the one they easily one this year. Someone please give me a good point as to why Red was a much better coach. I'd really like to hear it.
Leave some comments and let me know what you guys are thinking out there. Also, if you have something you want me to talk about in a future Jay's Sports Corner please let me know.

2009 NBA Finals
Hello, once again! It's been a long time since I've been blogging and telling my listeners, fans, or people who like to hear the dumb things I have to say, about sports and other things like that so, let's hop right into it.
It's no big secret to my friends and people who know me that I'm not the biggest basketball fan. As a matter of fact if I watch an NBA game from start to finish it might as well be considered a miracle. I'm more into college basketball then NBA but, most fans think that way.....anyways, my good friend and I were talking about the playoffs and how much we like LeBron James and how much we wanted to see him and the Cleveland Cavs in the finals with Kobe and the Lakers. Well, we both decided to watch games 5 and 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Again, I watch a NBA game from start to finish so....take that into consideration. Like I said I'm more into the college game then the pro's so with that being said here's my prediction for Lakers v Magic the 2009 NBA Finals!
After watching both game 5 and 6 I noticed something that the Magic have done. They remind me so much like Duke! They live and die by the 3 point shot! If they cant get the ball down low into Dwight Howard's hands then the next play is to kick it out and let someone....and I mean anyone shoot the 3. Guess what...it works...pretty well too! So, to spare you the reader and me the time of trying to explain a game that I dont watch too much about.....
Lakers in 7
I'm thinking this good be one of the greatest NBA Finals in a long time!
Series begins Thursday @ 8:30 on ABC

2009 MLB Predictions
Well, I havent updated this in a while so I apologize for that but, I'm here now and I've got a buddy of mine who made some baseball predictions and I thought it would be a good idea to share his thoughts with you guys so here they are. Please leave some comments and let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
American League East
-The Ray's won't be back for another division title, and neither will the Yankees. So that leaves the other three teams in the mix, and if you think its the Blue Jays or Orioles, then you're dreaming. I don't even know who even plays for the Orioles. Nick Markakis or something. Who cares. The Red Sox have the best rotation and offense behind them so they will win the division. Sorry Yankee fans, AJ Burnett will get hurt, and Ching Ming Wong, is also injury prone. Mark Teixeira is a second half player, and AROD is already going to miss the first month.Red Sox win, to restore order in America.
Red Sox, Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays and Orioles.
American League Central
-The Tigers really shit the bed last year. So did the Indians. The Royals always shit he bed so, there is order in the Central. Howthe hell does the Twins always make a playoff run? Sure Justin Morneau is good, and so is Joe Mauer, but every friggen year they are in the mix. Hell Mauer is panzy little bitch, and gets hurt all the time. So this division apparantly is a toss up. The White Sox are getting older, and the Royals are terrible as usual. This should be a boring division.
Indians, Twins, Tigers, White Sox, and Royals.
American League West
-Again a lame division to watch. The Angels got worse, but yet since they are in a terrible division they should win it. The Rangers could make a run, but the only pitcher I can name is Kevin Millwood, and he's above average at best. The A's got Matt Holliday, but don't be shocked if he only his 280 this year. The Mariners are really terrible.Like unexplicably terrible. Erik Bedard will be traded by trade
deadline to a contender. Hopefully not a New York team.
Angels, Rangers, A's, and Mariners.
National League East
-So the are the Met's doomed for another September collapse? Are the Phillies contenders to repeat? Are the Braves any good? Will the Marlins win 80+ games with the payroll of a Jack in the Box? Will the Nationals compete for the first two weeks? Answers to those questions are right here in this order. No, No, Somewhat, No, and God no they suck. The Met's have the best bullpen in the division, while the Braves have the best rotation in the division (yes they do) and the Phillies probably have the best lineup in the division. All of those however have to combine to win games so I guess it goes to the Mets. It should be tight in the top three spots.
Mets, Phillies, Braves, Marlins, Nationals.
National League Central
-Will the Cubs have the best record in the National League then get crushed in the post season? Of course they will it's the Cubs. The Cardinals could very well fly under the radar, as well as the Astros. All three of these teams, have potent lineups, with decent rotations. The Cubs have the best rotation by far in the division, but like I said above it's the Cubs. The Brewers are going to take a couple steps back, and the Reds and Pirates are both a mess.
Cubs, Cardinals, Astros, Brewers, Reds, and Pirates.
National League West
-Nobody cares about this division from myself, to Jesus. I mean again it will come down to who wants to just be over .500 more Will it be the Diamondbacks or Dodgers? If you rely on pitching it goes to the Diamondbacks. If it relies on offense, it goes to the Rockies. If Tim Lincecum pitches every game it goes to the Giants. Somehow the Dodgers win games as well. The Padres are just terrible.
Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Rockies, Giants and Padres.
Division Playoffs.
Red Sox over Angels in 4,
Yankees over Indians in 5
Mets over Diamondbacks in 4
Cardinals over Cubs in 5
Championship Series.
Red Sox over Yankees in 6
Mets over Cardinals in 6
World Series
Red Sox over Mets in 6.
I predicted that last year, and am going to this year. This year it's going to happen.
AL MVP: Evan Longoria
Runners Up: Mark Teixeira, Dustin Pedroria, Kevin Youkilis, and Justin Morneau.
NL MVP: Albert Pujols.

NL Home Run Champ: Ryan Howard with 48.

Runners Up: Josh Beckett, CC Sabathia, Scott Kasmir, and Jon Lester.
NL CY Young: Johan Santana
Runners Up: Tim Lincecum, Brandon Webb, Cole Hamels, and Carlos Zambrano.

How to fill in your brackets!!!
That's right....I can show you how to fill in your brackets before they even come out. As I type this its 1:40pm on Wednesday afternoon. No, theres no secret formula or I dont have inside knowledge of games being fixed...sorry its nothing cool like that. The NCAA has people that watch these games from the beginning of the season to the conference championships. That means they know who's good and who's not. Then they have a selection committee to come in and decide what team plays who and where by giving all 64 (65 if you wanna count the "play-in game") a seed in the tourney. So are you ready for the big secret???? Here it is.........Just take the favorites! Yes I know there's always a 12 seed that gives a 5 seed a run for its money or even beats them but, there's no need to say that I knew that Cornell had a great chance to beat Michigan State. You didnt really think that and you've never seen Cornell play and your not gonna impress anyone if you luck out and were right. The only time I may accept an underdog beating a favorite is a 9 seed beating a 8 seed. Everything else pretty much is there for you to take.
If you have any questions or comments please leave me a message and I can write you back and hopefully answer anything questions you may have.

Jay's Sports Corner welcomes.....Boston, Mass.!!!!!
I was eating a bowl of peanut butter ice cream (yeah its still winter here but I love my ice cream) when I got a text message from the beautiful and talented Stacey! FYI: None of this is possible without her so she's my hero!!! Anyways, she asked me if I was ready to be on two stations and I sent her back the most powerful text ever created and said....HUH??????? She told me what she's been working on and how she and her new boss wanted to bring Jay's Sports Corner with. Of course, I got giddy like a school girl because this is want I've wanted to do my enitre life. So, let me once again thank Stacey for everything she's done for me. THANK YOU STACEY!!!!
All major league teams are in full spring training mode. Some are currently playing their first spring training games of the year as I type this. I'm a huge baseball fan and for our new friends in Boston just so we get things clear...Yes I live in New York....NO I'm not a yankees fan.....Yes I am a mets fan tho. OH Before I can forget...Shout out to Billy Buckner!!! Thanks buddy!
Ok, in my last posting I talked about how A-Rod admitted talking steriods. Well, it looks like the league is gonna try to suspend him and if they do it will be a firestorm if they do. Because if you do something that wasnt illegal at the time and when it becomes illegal and it comes out how can you be found guilty?
What I'm more interested in is how is the whole A-Rod story going to effect the yankees? Well, according to the New York media Joe Giradi took the guys out for some billards. Thats right....he's turning to pool to make the team feel more like a family and bond. Well, either one of two things is gonna happen they win a bunch of games and he's a genius or they come right out of the gate and stink it up and then the media well try to run this guy outta town. Just have to wait and see.
Again, if anyone has a special topic they want me to discuss or what me to give an opinion on a certain sports topic just comment back and I'll be happy to give my opinions.

Alex Rodriguez admits to taking steriods!
Just this past weekend a reporter for Sports Illustrated found a report saying A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez) was taking taking steriods. Now, before I go into my little rant here I have to say that for those of who dont understand what I mean by "steriods" I mean he took Testerone and something called Methialone. I'm sure I didnt spell those correctly. I heard this from a reporter on ESPN and he said that when you take the two of them combined they rebuild your muscles quicker (when you workout and lift weights your muscles actually break apart and you need a certain amount of time to recover usually, a day or two after) and the other gives you a "not so steriod look" again this according to TJ Quinn of ESPN. Because if you look at his body size over the last 10+ years he hasnt gotten bigger not to the point of players like Barry Bonds or even Mark McGwire. A-Rod's numbers havent had a sharp spike like Barry Bonds. A-Rod's always been a .300 hitter and 40-50 homeruns a season. He was arguable the best player of his generation. Now, before we all say "major league baseball should throw him out" and all that stuff there was no drug policy or a punishment in place when A-Rod was busted so, nothing will happen.
The trend seems to be when players who get busted and have proof agaisnt them that they have taken performance enhancing drugs seem to admit and move on. Fans forgive them and give them credit for owning thier mistake and being a man about it. Unlike some other players......Barry Bonds.....Roger Clemens.
Alex has a tough time dealing with the media anyways ya know playing in new york and choking every october (yeah I know my mets choke every september) as a matter of fact. My co-worker Pat...SUP P-P-P-P-PAT!!!! told me that David Letterman had a top ten for A-Rod and #3 was: They should make a steriod to not choke in October. HAHA!!!
I've found the interview its a 3-part interview but you can watch the whole interview and please leave feedback for me and tell me what your thinking!

Super Bowl XLIII
After the first period like I said in Jay's Sports Corner I thought my friend and I would of had more fun playing full contact basketball on a inch of ice in his driveway but, the sports fans we are we decided to stick it out and lucky us we got treated to a good game. I picked the final: Pitt 20 - Arizona 14. Boy, was I grinning in the 4th quarter when the score was in fact 20-14 Pitt. I was thinking to myself how much trash am I gonna talk..to my friends, co-workers, etc. Then my dream came to an end when Big Ben was sacked in the endzone for a safety (and when I mean saftey I mean holding in the endzone which is a safety). Oh well, at least I picked the winner....or did I? I've recently seen some photos according to SNY that Santonio Holmes may in fact have NOT had both feet down (I'm looking on the web to see if I can find the picutre) The only problem is that it shows the feet and not were the ball is. I'm not trying to be the rumor starter here...thanks to Marv for that....but, if that pic is a pic him having the ball and not having both feet in well, then I can understand how Cardinal fan is because, BRETT HALL'S FOOT IS STILL IN THE CREASE!!!! I'm a Buffalo fan so we always get the short end of the stick.
Ok for the game. Arizona....you killed yourself in the game! How many penalties did you have? How many of those were personnal fouls? The steelers got in your head and you let your emotions get the better of you! That has to fall on Ken Wisenhunt Cardinals head coach. Dont you tell your players that thats what they're gonna do? I coach a rec soccer team and we have some teams in our league that like to get a bit chippy but, I tell them to just play your game and the ref will make the right calls. I'm just a nobody who coaches U-12 kids and I know that. How the hell doesnt Wisenhunt not tell his players, and if he did then they players deserved everything they got.
Pittsburgh....I know Holmes "caught" the winning TD but, he didnt deserve the Super Bowl MVP. Ben Roethlisberger totally deserved it. How many times did they cardinals blitz or the steelers line break down and made Big Ben run for his life. Not only was he running for his life but he turned nothing into something.
What was your favorite super bowl ad? I loved the careerbuilder and the dortitos commercials. My all-time favorite was probably MacGruber. I love Saturday Night Live and MacGruber is like MacGuyver and he fails all the time. So, I went to youtube and hulu and I guess there was two other commercials of his. I may have missed the other two because of our halftime activites (Like I said full contact basketball on an inch of ice)
So I decided to but all 3 on there as a tribute to Pepsuber...ENJOY!!!
